The Three Lochs

This is an excellent driving trip for those with only a short time in the area. Head up Sinclair Street towards Loch Lomond and keep going for about 5 miles. Link.

Turn left onto the A82, travelling northwards along the shores of Loch Lomond, calling in at the Thistle Bagpipe makers before stopping in Luss Village to visit the Loch Lomond Park Centre and Luss Church.

Continue northward along the loch shore to Tarbet, keep straight on - on the A83 to the village of Arrochar, situated at the head of Loch Long.

Alternatively, turning left at Inverbeg from the A82 allows the traveller to wind their way through Glen Douglas, marvelling at the beautiful scenery, connecting with the A814 towards Helensburgh.

Turning left and south from Arrochar along the A814, takes the traveller along the winding road, hugging Loch Long's shores. Maybe stop for Afternoon tea at The Green Kettle Tea Room.

At Garelochead situated to the north of Helensburgh along the A814, one can enjoy a splendid scenic journey of hills, loch and coast to the Rosneath Peninsula, returning in a loop toward the Victorian seaside town of Helensburgh.

Don't forget to visit Charles Rennie Mackintosh's Hill House, which can be reached from the top of Sinclair Street turning left into Kennedy Drive.  (Please Note: open 13:30 - 17:30 last entry 17:00)
