The Inner Isles

Heading northward on the A82 from Loch Lomondside, follow directions via A83 and Arrochar for Inveraray and Lochgilphead. At Lochgilphead, the A83 bends southward along the western shores of Loch Fyne to the lands of Knapdale and Kintyre. Continuing on the A83, the traveller arrives in the attractive fishing port of Tarbet: from here one may journey a little way southward to Kennacraig to join the car ferry to the inner isles of Islay and Jura; alternatively, continue on the A83 south to Campbeltown and the Mull of Kintyre, returning by the eastern shore of the peninsula via Carradale, with views across the Kilbrannan Sound to the Isle of Arran.
